Q: Who is eligible for membership in REG?
A: All graduates of the CSUF Master of Science in Education,
Reading program are invited to join REG. Associate memberships are
available for students in the graduate reading program and interested
reading educators from the community.

Q: What are the benefits of REG membership?
A: The benefits of membership include:

The opportunity to network with faculty and classmates
by attending REG sponsored events;
-
Access to REG’s newsletter with updates on department
news, announcements of seminars and conferences, listings of
job opportunities and articles of interest to the reading professional.

The REG membership directory with contact information
for all members. The directory is an excellent resource for
locating tutors, reading/language arts specialists and teachers
at all levels.

Q: What events does REG sponsor?
A: REG sponsors three annual events for its members.

The “Concert Under the Stars” is a campus-wide
event at which REG reserves tables for members who wish to gather
and enjoy the talents of students from the Music, Theater and
Dance Departments. The concert provides an opportunity for campus
support groups to honor volunteers who have given their time
to enrich the campus community. REG nominates and honors one
of its members at this event. The evening culminates with a
fabulous fireworks display. The concert is typically held on
the third Friday of September. Attendees bring a picnic dinner
to enjoy at 6:00pm. The concert commences at 7:00pm.

The annual Winter Dinner is typically held in February
or March at the Fullerton Marriott. Reading professionals and
experts on the latest developments in the field of reading are
invited as guest speakers and scholarship recipients and outstanding
alumni are recognized. The dinner is an opportunity for professional
development and networking. Reservations are required and a
buffet dinner is served.

In May, Reading Educators' Guild hosts a reception for
the graduates of the Master of Science in Education, Reading
program following Commencement exercises. At the reception the
Outstanding Graduates are recognized, and a one-year complimentary
membership in REG is given to all graduates.

Q: What support does REG provide for the Reading Department?
A: REG provides the following:

Maintains a list of literacy tutors in private practice
-
Provides names of members who can serve as advisory board
memebers to the department.

Provides IRA membership and IRA Journals for graduate student's
use.
-
Provides scholarships for current graduate students and
students attending the reading center.
-
Nominates former students to be recognized as outstanding
alumni.

Manages the Hancock Fund
